- How To Build Your Natural Self Confidence
Confidence
and building your own self confidence is important in today's
competitive world. However this is not about putting on a face of
'bravado' - it is about tapping into your inner sense of natural
confidence that leads to such a feeling.
The
problem I see with most people who are trying to build their self
confidence is that they are trying to be something they are not. Quite
simply, this trying to be something you're not will lead to an inner
sense of anxiety and often hollowness. The reason for this is
that you are not being true to yourself.

- go within your heart to find self-confidence |
So
how do you bridge the gap and build your sense of natural self
confidence?
The
first step is to realize that we all have our authentic self. This is
our true self.
If
you cast your mind back to when you were a young child you will start
to see that you were already confident back then. You will also
probably see that you were not 'trying' to be confident.
Not
at all, you were just being yourself!
And
this is what leads to a strong sense of self confidence. For when you
are being yourself then there is no questioning or second guessing what
you are doing. Instead you are just naturally doing what it is you are
doing. And you are doing it in your own unique way.

- your authentic self is self assured |
So
how do you tap into your authentic and true self?
The
most powerful place I know how to do this is to take time out and go
alone into nature. Take the time to go to a place where you feel
comfortable and without the distractions of other people being around
you.
I
find a minimum of 4 hours is what you really need to tap into your
authentic self. This amount of time alone in nature allows you the time
and space to tap into your true nature in nature.
So
when you are in nature, the first step to tap into your authentic self
is to let go of all tension within your body. Simply scan through your
body and notice where there is any tension. Then just like letting go
of a rock, allow the tension to drop to the ground.
Likewise
with your mind. If you notice any tension within your mind, just allow
it to drop to the ground.
Dropping
tension like this allows you to enter into a state of relaxation. This
state of relaxation is a critical step to tapping into your true nature
and hence sense of self confidence.
After
you have dropped all tension from your system, the next step is to tap
into your heart. To do this, just place your attention on your heart
center. This is located in the middle of your breast bone and is about
the size of a golf ball.
So
instead of placing your attention on the things going through your
mind, instead place your attention on your heart center. Feel the
feeling within your heart center, for this is where your authentic self
lives. Your authentic selfis the same self that just did what it
naturally did as a child.
Then
as you place your attention on your heart center, start to become aware
of where it is guiding you. To me it often feels like there is a little
pull on my heart center. Sort of like a thin spider web pulling me in a
certain direction. This is the inner guidance of your true self guiding
you.
Then
just allow yourself to go where this inner guide is guiding you to go.
So perhaps you get drawn to go and smell a flower, or perhaps to go and
hug a tree, or maybe to wash your face with some fresh water in a
stream. Wherever it is you are guided to go, then just allow yourself
to go there.
Then
just keep on going. Allow your authentic and true self to take you on a
journey through nature. If you feel drawn to a large boulder, then go
there. If you feel drawn to climb a tree, then climb the tree. If you
feel drawn to sit beside a lake, then sit beside a lake. Simply allow
your heart to guide you through nature.
Doing
this exercise in nature for a minimum of 4 hours will tap you back into
your authentic self. It will tap you back into your true nature,
however it is mostly symbolic. The key is to bring this way of being
back into your life.
For
example, if you are at a party and feeling nervous and anxious because
you don't know anyone then you can tap back into this state. For
example, just scan through your body for any tension and allow it to
drop to the ground. Likewise with your mind - scan through your mind
for any tension and allow it to drop to the ground.
Then
place your attention on your heart center and allow it to guide you.
Perhaps you will be guided to go and join a group of people you don't
know. Or perhaps your heart will guide you to go and dance to some
music. Instead of 'thinking' about it, just go with the pull of your
heart. For this allows your true self to express itself in the world.
And when
you both listen to and follow your heart in the world, it
usually appears to other people that you have a lot of self confidence.
This is not because you are 'trying' to be confident. It is more that
you are just listening to your inner self and allowing it to guide you,
which brings self assurance rather than self doubt.
When
you allow your inner self to guide you then there is no second
guessing. There is no inner questioning. In fact there is next to
nothing going through your mind because you are instead coming from
your heart out into the world. This is where true confidence lays
because you are now being authentic to yourself.
