Listen To Words Of Ancient Spiritual Wisdom In Nature
Wisdom is taking actions based on
tapping into what is true and the right thing to do. It is about
aligning your actions with what is for the greater good of all
things.
In indigenous cultures this ancient spiritual
wisdom has been passed down over thousands of years from one generation
to the next. This was primarily done through telling stories around the
fire, often in winter when the natural rhythm of nature slows down and
goes inward.
This ancient spiritual wisdom often came about through thousands of
years of experience however certain members of the tribe such as
Shamans would directly tap into the wisdom of nature.

Largely
these methods of tapping into the wisdom of nature have been lost
because we are not in as much direct contact with her. However the
knowledge within nature is still there just waiting to be tapped into
again.
So how do
we tap into the wisdom of nature and listen to her words of advice?
Firstly it
is a matter of spending time immersed within naure. It is only through
spending time alone by yourself without the distractions of modern
civilization that you will be able to listen to her wise words.

For
example, during a nature immersion you will spend 3-4 days alone by
yourself fully immersed within nature.
When
you spend an extended amount of time alone in nature then the busyness
within your mind naturally starts to slow down. It is this slowing down
that allows you to start seeing and listening to the small and subtle
messages within nature.
This
slowing down naturally happens by itself for most people after around
1-2 days, however you can actively slow your thinking down within a
couple of minutes by doing the following no-mind meditation.
To
actively slow your thinking down then it is important to firstly become
aware that we all have a little voice within our mind. For example
right now it may be saying something like 'Little voice? What little
voice? I don't have a little voice!'
Well...
that is the little voice.
It
is this little voice within our mind that typically drowns out the
sublte guidance and messages from mother nature. So the next step to
listen to her words of advice is to silence the little voice within our
mind.
To
do this simply treat it like a little child and say to it 'Thank you
for sharing'
As
you do this you will probably notice a little pause in the noise within
your mind. That there is a gap and a space within what is going through
your mind. This is what the Buddhists call no-mind.
So
instead of placing your awareness and attention on the noise, instead
place your attention and awareness on the space. This allows you to be
in the right space to tap into the ancient spiritual knowledge
contained within nature.
When
you are in a space of no-mind, the next step is to go to an element
within nature that you feel drawn to. For example this could be a young
sappling, a rock or perhaps an old tree. Then it is a matter of forming
the connection with this element within nature.
I
cover this in more detail in my book 'The Heart Walk' however to start
forming the connection firstly start spending time studying the element
you feel drawn to. For example, start to look at all the little details
within the element. If it is a tree you feel drawn to then look at all
of it's little features such as the textures within the bark or the
veins within it's leaves.
Then
close your eyes and try to picture the little details within your
mind's eye. As you start seeing all of the little details in
the element within your mind's eye then you are forming and deepening
the connection with the element in nature. This connection allows you
to start tapping into it's wisdom and knowledge.
After
you have formed the connection then you are in the right space to start
asking the elements questions. This is how you tap into it's ancient
spiritual knowledge. Personally I find 'What' questions are the best
questions to ask, such as 'What are you trying to tell me?' or 'What do
you want me to know?'
Then
it is just a matter of listening to the words of advice.
To
tap into the wisdom of nature it is more about listening rather than
actively engaging in a conversation. For example just as we all have
our inner voice so too does every element within nature. It is just a
matter of listening with our inner hearing that we are able to listen
to nature's gentle whispers.
This
ancient spiritual wisdom within nature is always there and is always
present. It is just a matter of taking the time to firstly be within
nature, going into no-mind and then listening to the words she has to
give.
